In Weaving Myths, Roescheisen transfers the myth of the dragon from her series of Dragon paintings to hand-woven and hand-dyed rugs, weaving her own myth, which she describes as “an age-old tale that whispers through the threads—a legend in a hidden realm, where elusive creatures known as Lumara weavers, who possess the mysterious ability to spin threads of imagination, re-connect spectators to their own innate knowledge of the existence of magic.” In this way, the artist also pays homage to the phantasmagorical content of The Lady and the Unicorn (c. 1500), a beloved medieval tapestry at Musée Cluny, Paris.
